Okay, so I'm creating a fic where there's a sort of side-bar-ish insert of a really cheesy sex manual.

The manual needs to have headers in Impact and body text in Comic Sans. Because it's that kind of cheesy. There's terrible clip art too. I'd LIKE the manual to appear in an indented box surrounded by a line, with those fonts. I'd like the rest of the work to use site-standard fonts.

I know NOTHING about CSS. However, I'm pretty good at looking at a whole piece of html or whatever and adapting it to my needs. I'm having trouble finding just one whole workskin? And then understanding how to apply it to part of the fic and not the rest? Is that possible?

You can apply the formatting to just the portion you want it to apply to and leave the rest of the fic in the default formatting by using a <div> tag around the part you want formatted. </div>

You can apply Impact and Comic Sans MS (and any other fonts, as long as the reader has them installed) with the font-face property.

"Surrounded with a line" just means a border, no? So that's border: 1.

Not really - when you create a skin, it adds on to the existing Archive skin, so you just say the bits you need. So in the fic, use div class="specialformat" then in the skin .specialformat {font-face: "Impact";} or whatever. It may be worth having a look at a simple CSS guide to make sense of what [personal profile] zaluzianskya suggested.
